In many ways the story of the Longsword is the story of EAE, especially in the early DIY days. This pedal has grown and evolved with us every step of the way, from the tiny spare bedroom workshop into our current production facility. It’s a flagship for a reason!
At the tail end of 2024, some folks from my old college made a mini documentary about the origins of EAE. During the editing stage, I was inspired to dig through archived photos and social media posts, and I realized that we were coming up on a milestone that nearly slipped past me. Exactly ten years ago today, on June 17, 2015, I started taking orders for the first batch of Longswords.
We’re not the type for huge celebrations, but we wanted to commemorate the occasion with a limited batch of throwback Longswords. The artwork and fonts pay homage to the old Version 2 line art, while the metallic purple powder coat is inspired by the original V1 run. You can preorder one here while supplies last.
We also made this video. It’s part vlog, part mini doc (is “vlogumentary” a thing?). It features some deep lore about our musical origins, the early days of EAE, and the many iterations the Longsword took on over the years before it reached its final form. I had fun going down memory lane to make this, and I hope you enjoy watching it.
Thanks all for the support over the last decade. It is an honor to keep making this pedal, and we are deeply grateful for all the music you have made with it. Here’s to ten more years!

PS: while I was at it, I gave the Longsword manual a significant refresh to add suggested settings and some plots of the EQ curve and clipping response. Check it out if you feel so inclined.
